A HUDDERSFIELD man has beaten international competition to clinch a top award.

Mohammmed Athur Ali, 26, of Birkby, won the top prize of £1,500 in the Pilkington Automotive Vehicle Design Awards for this innovative Mountain Bike Car.

His design was part of a final-year project for an MA in vehicle design at the Royal College of Arts in London.

The former Salendine Nook High School and Greenhead College pupil lives on Thistle Close with his family.

Mr Ali said he was delighted to have won first prize and planned to spend the money on a break.

"I am looking for a job in the design industry, but I would like to take a couple of weeks off and go on holiday," he added.

"I enjoyed my course in London and I am really pleased to have won the Pilkington award.

"I hope it will help me in the future."
