A NEW clinic for sports injuries has opened in Huddersfield.

Thera-sport physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation centre is renting space at the Stadium Health and Fitness Club at the McAlpine Stadium. Thera-sport already has a clinic in Wakefield.

Tony Smith, manager of Huddersfield Giants rugby league team, was at the opening with Giants physiotherapist Steve Moslin and Giants players.

The centre will be open to the public and members of the Giants and Huddersfield Town. Local GPs can also refer patients there.

Problems such as whiplash, back pain, sports injuries and post-operative conditions can be dealt with.

The centre has an isokinetic rehabilitation facility, which assesses people's fitness.

There is also a foot scan, which can give information about people's walking patterns and potential problems.

The physiotherapists who will treat patients are Lee Robinson, who is head physio at Featherstone Rovers Rugby League Club and Eva Slade, who is also trained in acupuncture. The team will be led by her husband, Garry Slade, who has worked as a professional sports physio for six years with the Bradford Bulls and Wakefield Trinity rugby league clubs and is now with the England partially sighted football team.
