DANCE Fans can follow in the footsteps of Huddersfield Strictly star Zoe Lucker.
They can take part in a new programme of sessions for children and adults.
The actress was one of the stars of the last series of Strictly Come Dancing – a show which has inspired a new generation of dance fans.
And a new reality show is aiming to find the dance stars of the future.
Now Kirklees Culture and Leisure Services 2010 programme has focused heavily on dance.
The programme includes not just the chance to get fit and learn a new skill, but an opportunity to perform on stage in March.
Energise Dance offers a whole variety of dance sessions for children or adults, from cheerleading to street dance, break dancing to movement and drama combinations.
Your skill level can be catered for because there are beginner sessions right through to more advanced classes.
Each of the classes will create a piece for the Jump and Shout performance at the Lawrence Batley Theatre at the end of March, giving all the dancers the opportunity to experience the thrill of performing in front of a packed audience.
The sessions include Jammy Dodgers, a fun introduction to dance for 3-6year olds, Take-off zone, dance and drama clubs for 7-16-year-olds and Street Dance: upbeat, lively classes combining street and hip hop for all ages including adults.
There is also cheerleading – an athletic and acrobatic style of dance for eight years and over and Parallel Motion, dance classes for people with learning disability.
All the weekly sessions start from this week and anyone wishing to join should contact the Energise Dance team on 01484 234089 to check that places are still available.
Sessions take place across Kirklees, with classes at the Galpharm Stadium, Holmfirth Civic Hall, Northern Light Gallery at Armitage Bridge, Wakefield Road Methodist Church in Clayton West, Your Health Club at Salendine Nook, Scissett Middle School, Dewsbury Sports Centre, Whitcliffe Mount Sports Centre in Cleckheaton and Westmoor Community Centre, Dewsbury Moor.
