AN 11th-hour deal has been agreed in the battle over the part-built Castle Hill hotel.

The Thandi Partnership had been due to appear at Leeds County Court today - but yesterday made a deal which will see them meet all Kirklees Council's legal costs, meaning public coffers will not suffer.

The hotel now has to be demolished by June 8 - almost six months after the original deadline of January 11 - or the Thandis could face jail.

Council chiefs have hailed the news a victory for the tax payer.
