PLANS to keep the Trinity Street subway light, bright and litter-free have been made.
Kirklees Council's Huddersfield area committee was told the subway was an eyesore.
But Terry Brown, of the highways department, said the council was working on improving it.
"In the next few weeks the ceiling will be repainted and the lights will be looked at to see if they can find something both vandal-proof and attractive," he said.
"We are also talking to the Technical College to see if we can get some of the art students to paint the walls." The subway is inspected several times a day by wardens who are in touch with cleaning teams.
Chairman Clr Linda Wilde said the council was looking at fitting a camera in the subway.
