A COLOURFUL mosaic which greets visitors to Beaumont Park has been created by year 10 art students from Moor End Technology College.
The mosaic is to welcome people entering the park from the Butternab Road and Delves Wood area and replaced an old tree in a circular bed which was in poor condition and had to be felled.
Professional artist Alan Pergusey worked at the college in partnership with the students and Friends of Beaumont Park to give advice and oversee the manufacture and installation of the mosaic.
The project is funded by Kirklees Arts in the Neighbourhood and Friends Of Beaumont Park.
Students visited the park earlier last month to witness the installation of their design, which was in place for the opening of the new bandstand.
