A MAIN road will be closed off for works to be carried out.

A section of the A629 New North Road in Huddersfield will close on Sunday, August 7, from its junction with Fitzwilliam Street to Portland Street.

Kirklees Council is carrying out reinstatement work after recent roadworks by BT.

A spokeswoman said: “The build-out was taken out by BT so they could replace and reinstate one of their chambers, and they are paying for the works to be carried out to put it back.”

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Local diversions will be available for cars, but heavy goods vehicles will be diverted from the ring road via Trinity Street and Edgerton Grove Road.
