VISITORS to Cannon Hall Farm will get a kick out of the new arrival.

On Tuesday morning, a new donkey arrived on the scene and the female donkey or jenny is of a rare breed.

The Poitou donkey has a thick matted and tangled coat, which originates from the Poitou region of France, about 300 miles south-west of Paris.

And it is much larger than an average seaside donkey.

Cannon Hall Farm has housed donkeys for the past 25 years but about eight years ago, they settled on the Poitou as their breed of choice.

Farm director David Nicholson said: “They are a very friendly breed even the male donkeys have a smashing temperament.”

The drove reside in the Roundhouse, which gives visitors a chance to look at them from both above and at the side.

A competition is being run via the farm’s website to name her. Visit www.cannonhallfarm.co.uk for more information.
