A NEW television chat show will be based in Brighouse.

Resident Richard O’Brien is leading a project called A Little Bit Of Ireland which will be broadcast to more than 10 million homes in the UK – and filmed in Brighouse town centre.

Richard, who has lived in the town for 32 years after moving from Ireland, said: “This will really put Brighouse on the map.

“I’ve done bits of radio and I’m a singer but this is something totally different.

“These types of show have a very big following and we can’t wait to start filming next week.”

Richard and his team at the town’s Irish Community News will film the first Sky TV show this Wednesday. It will broadcast on May 3 and every month thereafter with different studio guests.

It will feature up and coming bands and artists, real-life stories and special guests.

Producing the show is Danny Murphy, who is also from Brighouse.

Richard added: “We’re really pleased to be able to do something like this in Brighouse.

“Huddersfield, Halifax and Bradford have such vibrant Irish communities and we want to represent them on TV.”

The first show will feature musician Pat Jordan and Finian’s Rainbow, the story of a 74-year-old Manchester woman who recorded a CD, a Bradford teacher turned singer and a former priest.
