Huddersfield's Zoe Lucker is back on the soap trail.

The Lindley actress is joining the cast of Hollyoaks three years after leaving EastEnders.

Zoe is the latest member of the soap’s notorious McQueen clan.

The 40-year-old actress, famous for her glamorous roles on EastEnders and Footballers’ Wives, has been given a drastic make-under to play the show’s latest bad girl Reenie McQueen.

But she said: “I am really excited to be joining Hollyoaks - especially as a McQueen!’

The Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks is a regular at awards ceremonies and Zoe and will make her debut in April.

Reenie, who is the mother of already established characters Porsche, Celine and Cleo and daughter of Nana McQueen, will be in prison when she is introduced to viewers.

Hollyoaks’ executive producer Bryan Kirkwood said: ‘I am delighted to be working again with Zoe. In my mind there was only one person to tell Reenie’s important story and thankfully she was as intrigued by the character as we are.

‘We are thrilled that Zoe will be becoming a McQueen and know that she will bring Reenie to life for our audience.’

A spokesperson for the soap revealed that she is a ‘party girl’ who has ‘issues’ which her family will be forced to deal with.

“Reenie is a good-time party girl without an “off” switch and can be exhausting company although deep down she is the most vulnerable of Nana’s children.

‘She hasn’t set the best example to her three girls, who she raised largely on her own and frequently lets them down.

‘Emotionally she’s got issues and sometimes it’s difficult to tell just who the mother is and who is the daughter”.

Zoe, who studied at Oscars theatre school in Huddersfield, shot to fame as vicious WAG Tanya Turner in the ITV hit drama Footballers’ Wives in 2002, a role she played until 2006.

Since then she has had roles in Bad Girls, Bombshell and Holby Blue before joining EastEnders as Vanessa Gold in 2010. For the past two years she has been starring in the BBC school drama Waterloo Road as struggling mum Carol Barry.
