THE new chairman of the Variety Club in Yorkshire is actor Frazer Hines.

Frazer has promised to make sure that Yorkshire again collects the most money for charity of any region outside London.

Last year the county club raised more than £500,000.

Frazer has been on its committee for more than 20 years and is keen to kick off his time in office with some high-profile fundraising events.

In addition, he says he will get more people from showbusiness and the arts to join business people in raising money for the children's charity.

He added: "Fund- raising must be fun in order to be successful and the Variety Club has some really great events planned."

He succeeds Leeds businessman Stephen Bolton.

Some of the club's most recognisable symbols are the Sunshine Coaches, recently re-branded in new blue and yellow colours.

One was given to Holly Bank School, Mirfield.
