HUDDERSFIELD'S TV news presenter Nina Hossain has given birth to a baby boy.

Will Ridley Thomas, Nina's first child, was born weighing 6lb 3oz on December 1.

ITN presenter Nina , 32, and her partner Stuart Thomas, the editor of regional news programme London Tonight, are said to be thrilled about the arrival.

Both mother and baby are doing well.

Nina said: "I feel very lucky and am beyond happy.

"Having Will was the best decision I've ever made.

"I was extremely impressed with the talented and patient midwifery team at City Hospital in Nottingham.

"The whole experience was the NHS at its very best."

ITN plucked Nina from BBC London to present its evening news bulletin.

She started her television career on Border Television in Cumbria, before joining the ITN team.

Up until the last few weeks of her pregnancy, she was one of the anchors on the flagship Evening News broadcast, alongside Mark Austin.

Nina's father was psychiatrist Tobarek Hossain, originally from Bangladesh, who died on Boxing Day 2002.

He came to Huddersfield in the 1960s and in 1973 set up the Kirklees Alcohol Advisory Service in the town centre.

Her mother Pam lives in Taylor Hill.

Ironically, Nina landed the job with ITV because previous newsreader Mary Nightingale was leaving to have a baby.

But Nina has not just concentrated on news.

She filmed a cameo role in a feature film called Trauma starring Bridget Jones actor Colin Firth.
