A man exposed himself to a paramedic who was helping him after he collapsed, a court heard.

The woman had found Nicholas Dalton passed out on a stairway at Kirklees Council offices in Huddersfield town centre.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of intentionally exposing his genitals with the intent of someone seeing them and being caused alarm or distress.

Kirklees magistrates heard that the incident happened at the council offices on Market Street on July 6.

The court heard that the female rapid response officer attended there at 3.30pm.

A witness had called for an ambulance after seeing Dalton collapsed and unconscious on the landing of an internal stairway.

Vanessa Jones, prosecuting, said: “He was laid on the stairs and she tried to wake him.

“He turned over and placed both arms in his trousers and began to play with his genitals.”

The court heard that as the paramedic asked him to stop Dalton smirked at her, exposed and touched himself while staring at the woman.

Mrs Jones said that she walked away and called police while Dalton was later treated at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Dalton, who appeared in court in custody, was already on bail for other offences.

These are due to be dealt with by Leeds magistrates on July 15 and the bench sent the Huddersfield case there to be heard at the same time.

In the meantime Dalton must reside at his address in Dorado Close in Hull.

He was also banned from entering Kirklees except for when he has an appointment with his solicitor.
