A woman has appeared in court charged with murdering Newsome dad Martin Ackroyd.
The father-of-three was found dead in his flat in Ashenhurst Rise on May 2.
Nicola Bedford, 30, appeared before Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
She is jointly charged with Surjit Singh Sidhu over the killing of 50-year-old Mr Ackroyd.
Bedford and Sidhu, 48, are alleged to have murdered him between April 29 and May 2.
Magistrates heard no further details of the incident during the three-minute hearing.
Bedford, of Blackers Court in Thornhill Lees, Dewsbury, stood in a secure dock flanked by two female security guards.
Dressed in a long dark blue top with dark trousers with her hair worn loose around her shoulders, she spoke only to confirm her personal details.
Prosecutor James Weekes said that Bedford’s co-accused Sidhu, of New Hey Road in Marsh, has already appeared in court charged with the offence.
He is due before Leeds Crown Court this Friday for a preliminary hearing.
Mr Weekes asked magistrates to send Bedford’s case to the same date so that they can be tied in together.
Her solicitor Jonathan Slawinski said : “It’s sensible that this matter is transferred to that date.”
Bedford was remanded in custody until her appearance at the crown court this Friday.
