A MAN aged 22 was left badly hurt when he was beaten up after a night out.
He was walking to his home in Longwood from Huddersfield town centre when he realised three men were following him on Church Street in Paddock between 2am and 3am on Saturday.
When he got near the Angel pub they hit him on the back of the head with a weapon, pounced on him and dragged him into a car park.
The man was knocked to the ground and kicked several times.
He was left with a broken jaw and cuts and grazes to his forehead, elbows, back and sides.
He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, then transferred to Bradford Royal Infirmary for specialist treatment.
Pc Dave McSweeney, of Huddersfield police, said: "This was a nasty attack and it may be someone saw the attackers following their victim.
"He had walked along St Thomas's Road, through Long-royd Bridge and then up through Paddock."
