CALDER VALLEY MP Craig Whittaker will face no further action over allegations of assaulting his 24-year-old son.

After a police and Crown Prosecution Service inquiry, the case has been dropped.

The Conservative MP (inset), who represents Brighouse, Rastrick and Elland, was held after an alleged assault on Boxing Day.

Mr Whittaker, 49, who lives in Fixby, was said to have attacked his son Lee following a bust-up outside a petrol station at 10.30pm on Burnley Road, Mytholmroyd, near Hebden Bridge.

But last night he said: “The recent allegations of assault made to the police have been fully investigated by the police and reviewed by the Crown Prosecution Service.

“On reviewing the evidence, the CPS has decided that there is no case for further action.”
