RESIDENTS are still waiting for road markings on their street – six months after it was surfaced.

Greenhill Bank, New Mill, was resurfaced six months ago, but markings are yet to be painted on the road.

And they claim motorists often ignore the Stop sign, because the white Stop line at the junction with Royds Avenue has not been repainted.

They spoke out after it was revealed markings were painted on to Lipscomb Street, Milnsbridge, only a few days after the controversial partial resurfacing work was completed – even though more work remains to be done.

One Greenhill Bank resident said: “If there’s a Stop sign, there should be markings.

“It’s a bad bend and not everyone stops. I had a near-miss when someone didn’t stop.”

A spokesman for Kirklees Highways said: “Due to an extended period of bad weather there is a backlog of lining works which the council is in the process of catching up on”.
