THE new North Huddersfield Trust School in Fartown has got off to a bright start.

An open evening attracted more than eight times as many visitors as last year’s event, when the school was known as Fartown High.

Senior staff gave a presentation to parents and other visitors, who could tour the school.

Year Seven received eleven pupils more than initial projections.

ŠExecutive headteacher Andy Williams said: “To have such a huge number of people taking an interest is remarkable. Our job now is to make sure that we build upon these fantastic developments and show our community and local families that we will deliver our promises.”

Investment from Kirklees Council has helped to provide a new front entrance and reception, uniforms for all pupils, redecoration for two-thirds of the interior of the building and extended car parking.

The next addition will be lockers for the pupils.
