We’re used to the beauty of nature in Yorkshire – but nothing quite so rare as the northern lights which have been spotted in the skies above Huddersfield this week.

Huddersfield photographer Charlotte Graham captured stunning images after hours waiting alone on moorland near Halifax on Tuesday night, finally getting home at 4am!

Charlotte said: “I was on my own most of the night – there was one other person who turned up in a car who said he hadn’t seen anything but I told him you needed a camera to see it.

“You couldn’t really see them with the naked eye until after midnight when they started to get stronger and you could see the colours. It was brilliant.

“I saw them about 30 years ago but I’ve never seen them in England – you just don’t see them here.”
