TRAIN operator Northern Rail is celebrating another award win.
The company, which runs “stopping” trains across the Pennines as well as trains between Huddersfield and Sheffield on the Penistone Line, has gained five-star level accreditation in the Recognised for Excellence programme.
Northern Rail is one of only 18 companies in the Uk to achieve five stars – the highest award possible.
The latest success comes hot on the heels of Northern Rail clinching the SSP Train Operator of the Year Award at this month’s Rail Business Awards.
Recognised for Excellence is run by the European Foundation for Quality Management. It examines an organisation’s overall performance and achievements.
Ian Bevan, managing director for Northern Rail, said: “We’re delighted to have achieved a five-star rating in the Recognised for Excellence programme.
Joe Goasdoué, chief executive of the British Quality Foundation, comments: “Being awarded Recognised for Excellence at the highest level – Five Star – is a major distinction for any organisation.
“Northern Rail has demonstrated that it is committed to achieving superior levels of performance throughout the company and thoroughly deserves this recognition.”
