A VILLAGE club has denied it plans to sell off land for housing.

Parish councillor Jimmy Paxton had claimed 500 homes could be built in Flockton near the working men's club.

But Ian Burrell, secretary of Flockton Green Working Men's Club, said: "There are no plans in the pipeline for us to sell land."

The club owns 14 acres, making it the largest landowner in Flockton.

It includes a football pitch leased for the next five years, a park and agricultural land.

A proposal to sell lanwas rejected at the club's annual meeting.

Mr Burrell said: "There would be no point as the land is not allocated for housing in the unitary development plan."
