STAFF and parents from a group of Huddersfield children’s nurseries celebrated their successes at a special ceremony.
The Portland Nurseries event reviewed work during the year 2006 to 2007 and announced the winners of the Child Carer of the Year Award.
Parents and staff were asked to nominate individuals and a winner was chosen from each nursery.
They were Emma Woodhead from Harlequin in Edgerton, Debbie Platt from Holly Bank, also Edgerton, and joint winners Sarah Pogson and Teresa Lee from Portland House in Lindley.
The four winners were presented with engraved jade glass awards and a cheque for £100.
A child care star award was presented to Ann Watson from Portland House.
This is a special award and the first time this has been presented.
Ann has worked for Portland Nurseries for more than 14 years and is co-ordinator for the under twos at the three nurseries as well as being the senior for the under twos at Portland House.
Nursery proprietor Rosemary Murphy congratulated the winners for their exceptional contribution during the year and went on to commend all the staff for their dedication and high quality practise.
She also reported that staff had spent over 3,000 hours on training.
