FRANK O'Donnell was a man renowned in wrestling circles.

Mr O'Donnell, who has died at the age of 80, was a professional wrestler who became the All-Ireland Middleweight Champion.

He held the title undefeated until 1972, when he retired from the sport.

Mr O'Donnell lived at Middlestown near Dewsbury.

He was a well-known member of Dewsbury and District Golf Club, at Mirfield.

He was born in Ireland and was first introduced to the techniques of wrestling while working on a farm in Scotland.

He went professional in 1945 and lost only about 10% of his 500 fights.

Golf was his biggest passion after retiring from wrestling.

He was responsible for building the course at Bagden Hall, Scissett.

Mr O'Donnell leaves a wife, Bridget.

The couple had six children - Noreen, Marianne, Irene, Sheila, Pamela and the late Kevin.

Mr O'Donnell also had four grandchildren.
