A FORMER consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary has died.

J Hunter Annan died peacefully in Edinburgh after a long illness.

He treated hundreds of people during his years at the Infirmary.

Mr Annan graduated from Edinburgh University in 1938. In July 1998 he helped to organise a 60th anniversary of graduation event at the university.

He leaves a widow, Muriel, and three children Iain, Malcolm and Jane.

Iain works as a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The funeral was held in private on Friday.
