An offer has been made to Kirklees Council for part of the Waterfront site

And on yesterday councillors considered the offer and potential disposal of the land off Chapel Hill.

It was discussed in a private part of the Cabinet meeting and no details have yet been made public about what piece of land it relates to, who wants to buy it or for how much.

However, council leader Clr David Sheard has asked that information be made public explaining the reason items are often heard privately.

In this instance, Clr Sheard says commercially sensitive information was being discussed and its disclosure could affect the negotiations.

The Waterfront site is currently home to Kirklees College and Folly Hall.

It is an eight-acre site on a triangle of land between Manchester Road, Chapel Hill and the River Colne than has been the focus of regeneration for a decade.
