AN open weekend, held to unveil Huddersfield Railway Modellers' new premises, proved so popular that the club is to make it an annual event.
The club held the event to mark its move to premises at Stonefield Mills, on Tanyard Road in Milnsbridge.
The club moved after spending 20 years at Moor Road Mills in Meltham.
Mark Found, editor of The Railway Monthly, performed the opening ceremony and Colne Valley MP Kali Mountford was invited to drive the first train.
A `locomotive headboard'-style plaque was also put up in the club rooms in memory of Jack Yeoman, a founder member of the club, who died last year.
The plaque was unveiled by Rodger Schofield, the last surviving founder member, and Eric Mapes, the club's senior member and a friend of Mr Yeoman's.
The club's next task is six weeks of preparation for its annual exhibition at Holmfirth in October.
Mr Schofield said: "We were overwhelmed by the favourable comments of the public."
