Mountain Rescue volunteers in Huddersfield want the public to see how they work

The Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team will be hosting an official opening ceremony for its new headquarters building on Manchester Road in Marsden on Saturday, followed by an open day for the public to see the building and meet the team.

The day marks the culmination of many years of fundraising and work on the part of team members to try and secure a permanent home to ensure its life-saving services can continue into the future.

After a massive fundraising effort, the team succeeded in purchasing Marsden’s former Fire Station building earlier this year, after the station was closed by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The building provides garage space for the team’s two emergency vehicles, as well as a training room, control room, kitchen, toilets and ample storage and equipment drying facilities.

The opening takes place at 2.30pm.
