NETHERHALL Learning Campus High School hosted the final rehearsal and performance of a two-year project with Opera North.

It has been organised by Helen Turnbull, director of Specialism at the Rawthorpe school and Alex Bradshaw (Education Officer Opera North) and culminated in a performance to family and friends.

The project was part of Opera North’s Play ON programme, encouraging and engaging young people in learning to play musical instruments.

Young people from NLC High School and Junior School, St Joseph’s RC primary School, Moldgreen Primary and Dalton School have taken part.

The day was led by Luke Crookes from Opera North.

The young people have taken part in work on The Planets Suite, Carmen and other orchestral works, accessing music through a variety of techniques. They have worked with staff at their own schools and specialist musician from Opera North.
