They're getting ready for the final preparations for one of Huddersfield’s biggest events.

The Emley Show, which attracts crowds of around 15,000 people, is to take place on Saturday, August 1, in fields across from the famous Emley Moor TV mast.

And it is set to feature a whole host of attractions in addition to the regular and popular animal classes with everything from poultry to Shire horses.

Emley Show is over 120 years old – with the first show held in 1893.

It has moved around a number of sites over the years, with the current one being Factory Farm on Emley Moor.

Show organisers have also welcomed sponsorship from Huddersfield-based RRG Group, the Toyota dealers.

A spokesman for the firm said: “As for the sponsorship, we are simply the headline sponsor providing a monetary donation for headline recognition.

“We are attempting to play our part in advertising the show via our own social media channels and to our customer base directly from the centre.

“We will be on site with an extended display including between 12-14 cars which will include the GT86 Sports Coupe, Hilux, RAV4 along with the rest of the range. There will also be a selection of Lexus models on the stand courtesy of our sister company Lexus Bradford.

“In addition we will be raffling a prize in support of our chosen charity. The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice. A sponsored vehicle will be on the stand to demonstrate our support.”

Attractions on the field include the marching band of the West Yorkshire Fire Service, the Wise Owl Birds of Prey Rescue Centre, action from the Stannage International Stunt Team and a display by the Rockwood Hounds.

There are numerous events for children, including races and a mounted fancy dress competition.

Show spokesman Tim Hoggarth said: “It’s always a great day out for everyone and we are working on a new showground layout as well as new classes for this year”.
