A BLOSSOMING company set up by a former Huddersfield woman is in line for a business 'Oscar'.
Plant display firm Dodsworth was started by Julie Dodsworth and husband Simon in 1990.
They provide displays for clients as varied as the Kingsgate shopping centre in Huddersfield and Newcastle United Football Club.
The firm is based in the village of Cundall, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, where the couple live.
It is a contender for the Outstanding People Development category in the National Business Awards. It is up against media group Telewest, call centre company 2Touch and travel firm Arriva Trains Northern.
Mrs Dodsworth - who was brought up in Denby Dale - is also vying for a win in the Bright Business of the Year category.
The regional winner of the north-eastern heats, to be announced on July 15, will go on to the national final at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
"We are passionate about staff care," said Mrs Dodsworth.
"The people who work with me are extremely valued and important."
Dodsworth employs seven full-time staff.
The company gives £1 to the NSPCC children's charity for every display installed.
