A motorist had a lucky escape when his car overturned.

The male occupant managed to clamber out of the car after it landed on its side outside Meal Hill House in Jackson Bridge at 7.10pm on Tuesday night.

Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved when he lost control of the car.

Two fire crews from Skelmanthorpe and Huddersfield attended the scene and moved the car to a safe position and an ambulance took the man , who received no obvious injuries, to Barnsley Hospital for a checkup.

Police are now dealing with the incident.
