OVERNIGHT bedrooms are planned for volunteers at Kirklees Light Railway.

The team who run the Clayton West-based railway have submitted a planning application for a park home to allow staff to stay overnight.

They say: “We do have volunteers who spend several days working for us, but we do not have any facilities to provide them with overnight accommodation to save on their travel costs, which are becoming increasingly expensive.”

They hope a temporary building with long life-span will have five bedrooms, providing accommodation for six volunteers, with two shower rooms, a kitchen and living and recreation area. It would be in the storage yard at Clayton West station.

The plan is open to public consultation until March 12.
