A PENSIONER who wanted to test-ride a 250cc bike broke his thigh bone – after coming to a stop.
The 78-year-old, of Paddock, had already bought a 125cc scooter from Earnshaws motorcycle dealers on Manchester Road in Longroyd Bridge. But, after getting it home, he decided he wanted to try the more powerful 250cc Yamaha City model. The man took it on a trouble-free ride yesterday afternoon. But police said he forgot to put his feet down after arriving back at the dealers at about 3.20pm. The scooter toppled over and he landed on his left side. He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with a fractured femur.
