A post office branch is set to offer seven-day-a-week services, after closing for a major revamp.

The newly-modernised branch at Church Street, Paddock, will be launched at 1pm on Saturday, August 29, with three counter positions and a combined counter where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the retail till.

The new-look branch will open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday – with selected Post Office products and services also available from the retail counter during shop opening hours, which are 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9.30am to 9pm on Sundays.

Post Office bosses said the new arrangements will provide an extra 49 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office service a week and will offer a wider choice of times for customers to visit.

Services will include international parcels, special delivery, local collect and home shopping returns, cash withdrawals from a Post Office card account, Moneygram, bill payments, holiday money, insurance, mortgages and savings and top up mobile phones as well as car tax renewal.

The post office will close at 5.30pm on Wednesday, August 26, for the refurbishment work before reopening on August 29. During this time, customers can use post offices at Westbourne Road, Marsh, and Market Street, Milnsbridge.

Area manager Julie Kemp said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to our ‘no more branch closure’ programme.
