A SICK paedophile who raped two teenagers and used a leather belt to whip them has had his appeal for a shorter jail term thrown out.

Mr Justice Teare told London's Court of Appeal that Harold Ledgard's behaviour had "forseeable and disastrous consequences" for his young victims.

Ledgard, 62, of Lincoln Avenue, Dale Lane Estate, Heckmondwike, pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court in January to four counts of rape and two of indecent assault.

He was sentenced to 12 years jail.

Appeal Court judges rejected the appeal after noting it was a "planned, premeditated and sustained campaign" of abuse which also involved violence.
