TWO men have admitted breaking into a Golcar warehouse and stealing power tools.

Anthony Ward, 46, and Colin Davies, 24, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday and each admitted a single charge of burglary at ground work contractors DG Mellor, in Britannia Road, Golcar on May 19.

Prosecutor Mr Hussain said the pair drove together in a van to the secure premises and removed corrugated sheeting to the roof to get in.

Mr Hussain said they tried to start a mini digger but were foiled by its immobiliser. They then caused damage with a crowbar and jack to move the digger away from the doors to allow them to take other tools worth £2,000 including a JCB engine/hydraulic breaker, a Stihl saw and a Workzone compressor.

Around £1,000 damage was caused to the premises.

Ward also admitted driving while disqualified.

Ward, and Davies, both of Sparths Bottom Road, Rochdale, will be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on July 22.
