Paddock

A COUPLE who were charged after a teenager and his brother were attacked in a Paddock street have appeared before a judge at Bradford Crown Court.

Jeff Braithwaite, 19, underwent emergency surgery at Leeds General Infirmary for head injuries he sustained in the attack which took place in the Luck Lane area last month.

His brother Carl, 27, suffered less serious injuries in the incident which happened in broad daylight as they sat on a bench.

Stephen Flanagan, 37, is alleged to have been armed with a hammer at the time of the attack and 44-year-old June Hague is said to have joined in using a belt.

The pair, both of Victory Avenue, were charged with wounding with intent and yesterday the progress of their case was discussed by barristers and Recorder Richard Mansell QC.

The hearing was adjourned until May 14 and Flanagan was remanded back into custody until that date.

Hague, who has a bail condition to live in the Ilkley area, was told she must come back to court on May 14.
