POPULAR artist Steve Simpson is exhibiting his work for the first time in Huddersfield with a show at Huddersfield Parish Church.

The well- established Wakefield artist has been displaying his recent paintings and prints at the church since April 17 and will continue for the next month until May 16.

Mr Simpson, who trained as a printmaker, has undertaken commissions for a number of churches, with the most recent of these being for St George’s Crypt in Leeds, where he produced images based on the Last Supper for the Crypt chapel.

Vicar of St Peter’s the Rev Catherine Ogle said: “We are very pleased to host this exhibition of Steve’s work. The Parish Church is keen to provide a space of art of all kinds and to offer a range of exhibitions for our visitors.

“For me, Steve’s work is both mysterious and joyful, so it is great to see it in the church.”
