MOTORISTS can call a special helpline to learn about a new parking system.
Disc parking is coming to Holmfirth next June, subject to approval by Kirklees Council’s Cabinet this month.
The system would allow any motorist who collects a free clock disc to park free in designated zones for periods ranging from five minutes in some areas to three hours in others.
Drivers put the disc in their vehicle window, setting the clock to show the time of arrival.
Parking is free, providing the motorist doesn’t overstay.
The system, similar to one in Harrogate, would run on a trial basis for 18 months.
It would operate on Huddersfield Road, from the junction of Wood Lane to the lay-by near the cricket ground, Station Road from the bungalow to No 78 and Dunford Road from Da Vinci’s restaurant to the junction of Washpit Lane.
Disc parking would also be in place on Cooper Lane, on Greenfield Road from No 4 to the junction with Little Lane and on Woodhead Road from Nos 1 to 29.
Anyone with queries about the system can leave a message on 01484 225 696 or email email@example.com
Kirklees officials will hold a series of public meetings in the run-up to the scheme starting.
There will also be more information available on the council’s website at www.kirklees.gov.uk from early next month.
