SOME spaces for cars will be taken out of action during improvements at a Huddersfield car park.
Work is due to start on Thursday next week at the Upperhead Row car park above the bus station.
Crash barriers and handrails will be replaced on levels 1 to 5 to ensure they conform to current safety regulations.
The crash barrier work will be followed by concrete repairs to the decks and column supports which will be completed in early April.
Eventually the deck surface coating will be replaced as part of a rolling programme over several years.
A Kirklees Council spokeswoman said: "During the work, some car parking spaces will be unavailable though all efforts will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
"The `spaces available' signs on the ring road will be adjusted to show the number of spaces left."
