Train passengers who witnessed a man exposing himself on a Manchester to Leeds service are being asked to contact police.

British Transport Police is investigating an incident which happened as the train left Bradford Interchange at 9.30pm on Thursday June 4.

Officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed a man exposing himself and carrying out an indecent act.

Investigating officer PC Daniel Connelly said: “Unwanted sexual behaviour of any kind will be not tolerated anywhere on the rail network and we take all reports of this nature seriously.

“This clearly must have been an unpleasant and distressing experience for the passengers on board and I would urge anyone who was travelling on the train and who witnessed the incident to please come forward and speak to us.”

A 27-year-old man from Manchester has been arrested in relation to this case. He has been bailed pending further enquiries until July 9.

BTP recently launched the ‘Report it to Stop It’ campaign across the country, which aims to further increase the reporting of unwanted sexual behaviour on public transport.

Every day, plain clothes and uniformed BTP officers patrol the transport network to identify offenders and prevent crime. Victims of unwanted sexual behaviour can report it to BTP by text on 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40.
