BAY ATHLETIC have to play the waiting game.

The Salendine Nook side are hoping they have done enough to take the Division II title.

But they must wait for challengers Moldgreen to complete their fixtures.

Bay have a seven-point lead at the top of the table following last weekend’s thumping 6-1 win at Walpole Community Centre.

But Moldgreen do have three games left and can yet overtake the leaders.

Bay’s win at Walpole was their 18th of the season and they have lost just five.

The goals came from Allott (2), Adams, Stocker, Israel and McLaughlin.

There was a bit of an upset at the home of champions Moldgreen Con – but they did not really care.

The side were presented with the league championship shield before the game but then failed to turn on the style that had swept them to the title and lost 2-0 to Upperthong.

Goals from Upton and Barnes gave the visitors the points and inflicted only a third defeat of the season on Moldgreen Con.

Heywood Irish Centre enjoyed a good weekend, with a 4-1 home victory over Grange Moor.

The scorers for the Leeds Road-based side were Walker (3) and Warne.

Uppermill are through to the semi-finals of the Hoyle Cup.

They won 4-2 in a close-game at Netherton, to join Moldgreen and Bay Athletic in the last four.

The final place is yet to be determined, as Uppermill Reserves and Stag had their game postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
