MIRFIELD-BORN mountaineer and cancer victim Jason Tingle has presented a cheque to the Leukaemia Research Fund.
Jason climbed 13,660ft Mount Toubkal in the Atlas Mountains south of Marrakech in Morocco in October after recovering from leukaemia.
He has been collecting sponsorship money ever since.
He presented a cheque for just over £4,000 at the Railway pub, Huddersfield Road, Mirfield.
Jason said: "It costs so much money to treat the disease on a daily basis that £4,000 would go nowhere. That's why I would like it to go to research."
Jason, 34, is a season ticket holder at Huddersfield Town and former opening fast bowler for Huddersfield Cricket Club.
When he was diagnosed with leukaemia and a large tumour on the oesophagus he was only given an 8% chance of survival.
He said: "I wanted to live and made myself a promise. I said I was going to climb a mountain when I had beaten the illness."
