GRANDMOTHER Eileen King hopes to scale Yorkshire's Three Peaks to raise charity cash.

Mrs King, 59, of Meltham, aims to raise around £500 for the West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not Trust.

She will be climbing Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Three Peaks Challenge on June 19.

She will be accompanied by her daughter Christine and son-in-law Mark Mitchell and two friends.

Mrs King, of Wetlands Road, and her sister-in-law Noreen Rochford and four friends have formed a local support group for the Trust, which aims to build a children's hospice for Kirklees and Calderdale.

The group has already raised cash from a cosmetics party. A garden party is also planned.

Mrs King said: "I've done lots of walking training and am just hoping for fine weather on the day. I hope to finish in between 10 and 12 hours.

Patients and staff at Greenacres Home for the Elderly, where Mrs King works, have pledged their support.

Husband Noel will be back-up driver and sons Andrew and Robert are also supporting her.

The trek is around 26 miles. Mrs King has already scaled two of the peaks as a rehearsal for the main event.
