SPORTS Relief is back and looks to go the extra mile in what could be a promising event this year.

BBC Radio Leeds breakfast show host Katherine Hannah and sports reporter Adam Pope have announced they are going the extra mile by heroically attempting to pedal 130 miles across the waters of the Leeds and Liverpool canal on their giant swan pedalo ‘Grace’.

Katherine said: “I’m sure most people have had a go on a pedalo while on their holidays, but this is something completely different!”

The gruelling 10-day challenge which kicks off on March 14 will see Katherine and Adam navigate their way along the largest canal in northern England, making their way from Liverpool’s Albert Dock, crossing the Pennines – having to pit their wits against the cold, dark and potentially bad weather – before finishing at Leeds Granary Wharf.

The joint initiative between Comic Relief and the BBC started back in 2002 and has raised more than £127m for good causes in the UK and the world’s poorest countries.
