A PENSIONER was trapped in her car after it hit a wall and flipped on to its roof last night.

The 65-year-old was at the wheel of the Renault Megane when the accident happened at Armitage Road in Armitage Bridge at around 7.50pm yesterday.

Two adults and also a young child – who are all believed to be relatives of the driver – managed to escape from the overturned vehicle after the accident happened.

Two crews from Huddersfield Fire Station cut open the car and were able to rescue the woman on a longboard.

She was rushed to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with suspected spinal injuries.

Fire crews spent around an hour at the scene.
