SHE might be 100 but Phyllis Green still enjoys knitting and sewing.

The great-grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday with her large family.

Mrs Green, who lived in Longwood for most of her life, enjoyed a lunch out and a party at her Meadow Court care home in Slaithwaite.

She married Kenneth in September 1934 and they celebrated their diamond wedding before he died in 1995.

They had three children, Terry, Michael and Roger, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs Green worked at Longwood Finishing Company as a mender, her job was to spot flaws in the material. She gave up work when she had children.

Her husband Kenneth was a cording and scribbing engineer in the woollen industry.

She was an active member of Salendine Nook Baptist Church and attending their women’s meetings.

Her hobbies include knitting and sewing, which her son Terry says she still enjoys.
