HUDDERSFIELD has suffered from some appalling weather so far in October and this photograph captures nature’s power in its full glory.
It was taken by Gary Sykes from Meltham and shows the spectacular moment the sun rises through menacing clouds set against Huddersfield’s two most prominent landmarks, Emley Moor Mast and Castle Hill.
Gary, of Meltham, is a director at Benchmark Kitchens in Paddock.
He said: “I was on my way to work at around 7.15am and was close to the airfield at Crosland Hill.
“It’s a brilliant view from there and I often wished I’d taken a picture when it’s been particularly good.
“I had a camera in the car that I use for work and so when I noticed this sunrise I stopped and grabbed the image. It’s only a digital Kodak.’’
