For one week only part of Greenhead Park in Huddersfield has been transformed into a seaside-style resort.

And it includes 20 tonnes of sand, deckchairs and fairground rides galore.

The lovely weather yesterday - Saturday - attracted hundreds of families to the park eager to lap up some sun and fun.

Stewart Robinson, of Sheffield, who runs the attraction, said: “It was packed on Saturday. The weather was glorious and we had plenty of takers.

“We do a lot in Huddersfield and everyone we work with has been great including Kirklees Council.

“My grandfather Ernest started the fair before World War I and after him my father James Ernest. Certainly it’s a lot easier to bring the seaside to Huddersfield than the other way round.”
