A SUSPECT package which closed a firm for several hours turned out to be a piggy bank.

Staff at computer database specialists Datalinx on Savile Road in Elland called police at about 9.30am yesterday after finding the unusual A5-size parcel.

Police alerted the Army's Explosive Ordnance Department in Chester and the building was evacuated by chairman Stuart Bibby.

But when the Army experts used X-ray equipment to peer through the packaging they found the piggy bank inside.

Mr Bibby said: "We handle mail responses on behalf of a number of organisations.

"There was a tin inside it. It was quite a weighty tin and it was in an area of the firm where we would usually expect a letter."
